Lesson FAQ’s

When does your child need private lessons?

Hockey players, like most athletes, develop differently. Some are born with natural ability, but some develop it over time. Private lessons help hone those with natural abilities. And for those who need extra help, it’s a great way to receive personal attention.

How are Turner Hockey's lessons different?

I work just hard at coaching your child, as they do on the ice. It’s easy to put a bunch of pylons and obstacles on the ice and say, “Do this, or do that.” But, I believe in explaining the methodologies and reasons for training. I expect a lot from my students, just like they should expect a lot from me.

Are private lessons expensive?

Yes, they can be. In our region of the country, ice time comes at a premium. Unfortunately, that makes it difficult to price affordably. So I make it my mission to conduct private lessons at an affordable price point: $60 for 1-on-1 privates or $40 for group lessons. There is also a $15 ice time fee from the rink, on top of the lessons.

Do private lessons help children become professional athletes?

In all honesty, very few will make it to professional sports. Private lessons are really about sharpening skills. Any sport takes hours upon hours of practice to master. However, Turner Hockey’s ultimate goal is not only to produce solid hockey players, but to help mold solid althletes.
